Cities Mentioned alongside ‘Oxygen’ on Twitter Apr 15-30, 2021

Here is a table of all the cities that co-occurred with the word ‘oxygen’ in Tweets between April 15-30, 2021.  We collected all the original tweets (barring retweets) which had the word oxygen in them, using the Twitter Academic API, on those dates, and found 110,126 tweets. We then sought out names of locations in these tweets, here is a summary of our findings. This is meant to be a snapshot of data rather than hypothesis driven, methodical research. We conducted no detailed content analysis, therefore a tweet could be about the oxygen quality in a city getting better.

Also, this is not a solid indicator on the quality of oxygen shortage in locations, since it relies on how many people in that location, or related to that location, use social media. It is also important that there are network effects, thus if people in a certain location feel that talking about Oxygen is more likely to get them access to Oxygen on Twitter, it may encourage them to discuss that more, biasing the results.
